Peng Shou, chairman of the Advisory Committee of the International Glass Association, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, chief engineer of China Building Materials Group and chairman of Triumph Science & Technology Co.Ltd(600552) group, recently attended the opening meeting of the United Nations International Year of glass in 2022 and published a keynote report entitled “glass innovation, development and trend in the context of global climate change” by video. “China insists on taking carbon peaking and carbon neutralization as its national strategy, proposes to build a ‘1 + n’ policy system, and has made efforts to achieve the ‘double carbon’ goal from the aspects of top-level design, carbon reduction paths, safeguard measures and supporting schemes, and made contributions to addressing climate change,” he said
Peng Shou said that 2022 will become the UN International Year of glass, which fully affirms the important position of glass in the transformation of low-carbon economy and will build a platform for global glass innovation and low-carbon exchange. With the goal of “clean, carbon free, intelligent and efficient”, China’s glass industry will clarify the low-carbon development path of “core technology + key technology + supporting technology”, and focus on three aspects of “zero carbon energy reconstruction, zero carbon process reengineering and negative carbon system construction”, so as to comprehensively help the glass industry promote energy transformation and low-carbon reform. He suggested that the global glass industry should enter the glass age and move towards a better future together. With the opportunity of the International Year of glass, we should jointly build a global glass green community of destiny, lead scientific and technological innovation and share the driving force of glass development; With the support of green fund, build a harmonious ecology of glass; With open exchanges as the link, we will jointly shape the bright future of glass.
Peng Shou also addressed the closing ceremony of the conference.
China’s glass industry has grown from small to large, from weak to strong. Through continuous promotion of scientific and technological innovation and structural adjustment, not only the output occupies an important share in the world, but also the technology and equipment have reached the world advanced level. The 0.12mm ultra-thin electronic touch glass, 30 micron flexible foldable glass The innovative achievements represented by China’s first 8.5 generation float TFT-LCD glass substrate and neutral borosilicate medicinal glass have promoted the continuous development of China’s glass industry to high-end, green and digital, and achieved a leap forward in following and leading the world.
The United Nations International Year of glass 2022, approved by the 66th plenary session of the 75th United Nations General Assembly, opened on February 10 with the theme of “Celebrating the past, present and future of glass and creating a sustainable, fair and better tomorrow”. During the event, various activities covering the world, including science and technology summit, symposium, industry exhibition, glass summer camp and glass art exhibition, were also organized, focusing on promoting the scientific, technological and cultural achievements formed by the material characteristics and ultimate functions of glass. China will take the 32nd China International Glass Industry Technology Exhibition as an important activity to simultaneously carry out the Summit Forum on new glass materials, technical lectures and glass science popularization.
