The “meet Beijing” Olympic Culture Festival and the 22nd “meet Beijing” International Art Festival Beijing culture week opened on February 11. The theme party of the opening ceremony began with “chasing dreams” and opened with the song of “we embrace you in the Winter Olympics” to express people’s yearning for the Winter Olympics. The party is divided into three chapters: “ancient Beijing flavor”, “colorful melody” and “youth power”. Literary and artistic programs with the themes of Winter Olympics and ice and snow, such as “Hello, Winter Olympics”, “please come to the Great Wall for skiing”, “five string Pipa world Tour” and “Beijing snowflakes floating up”, are used to express the enthusiasm of the whole people to pay attention to the Winter Olympics, and praise the strong self-confidence and tenacious will of Winter Olympic athletes to fight on the field.
Wang Hong, vice mayor of Beijing, said that the purpose of holding the Beijing culture week during the Beijing Winter Olympics is to take this opportunity to attract more cultural and tourism resources to participate in the development of the ice and snow culture market, combine the sports spirit with the excellent traditional Chinese culture, show the cultural connotation of the Winter Olympics and promote the high-quality development of the concept of “Winter Olympics +”.
In the interactive exhibition area of intangible cultural heritage set up at the opening ceremony, traditional skills such as buckle making, movable type printing and woodblock New Year pictures, Beijing clay figurine Zhang and old Beijing playing goods attract the audience to experience. Hu Ling, the fourth generation inheritor of buckle making skills, told reporters that the team designed the Winter Olympics works with snowflake theme two years ago. Some are displayed in public cultural activities, and some are promoted in communities and schools.
“It is not limited to traditional buttons, but can also be made into ornaments, earrings, brooches, etc. Chinese people often say that ‘auspicious snow heralds a bumper year’, hoping to use snowflake buttons to convey the blessing of the Winter Olympics.” Hu Ling mentioned that in order to promote the skill of buckle to world tourists, the team also installed a “business card” with Chinese and English explanations on the back of the gift box. 12.
