According to the statistics of the Ministry of industry and information technology, by the end of 2021, China had built and opened 1.425 million 5g base stations, and more than 650000 new 5g base stations were built last year. At present, the total number of 5g base stations accounts for more than 60% of the world. 5g network has covered all prefecture level cities and towns, more than 98% of County cities and 80% of township towns. The number of 5g base stations per 10000 people reached 10.1, nearly double that at the end of 2020. The scale of 5g users has been expanding, and the number of 5g mobile phone users has reached 355 million. In 2021, China Mobile, China Telecom Corporation Limited(601728) , China United Network Communications Limited(600050) and China iron tower completed a total 5g investment of 184.9 billion yuan, accounting for 45.6% of the total fixed assets investment of telecommunications, an increase of 8.9 percentage points over the previous year. According to the data of China information and Communication Research Institute, in 2021, 5g will directly drive the total economic output of 1.3 trillion yuan and the economic added value of about 300 billion yuan, becoming an important engine to drive a new round of economic growth.
