If it can deliver 4680 batteries, it will give priority to Tesla.
LG energy solution also said recently that they are trying to diversify the cylindrical battery product lineup and are developing 4680 batteries.
At Tesla‘s revenue teleconference for the fourth quarter and the whole year of 2021 held last month, Tesla said that all its partners and suppliers were developing its 4680 battery. Tesla CEO musk confirmed that 4680 has been deployed on the sample vehicle. He said that at Tesla’s Texas plant, 4680 batteries are already being used to produce model y, but they need to complete relevant product certification before they can be delivered to the market.
Drew Baglino, vice president of engineering technology of Tesla, said that the supply of 4680 batteries will not be limited this year, and it is expected that the first batch of model y equipped with 4680 batteries will be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2022.
4680 battery greatly improves cell energy density
4680 large cylindrical battery, with a diameter of 46mm and a height of 80mm, is referred to as 4680 battery, also known as electrodeless ear battery.
