Beijing Winter Olympic Games set off an upsurge of hydrogen energy application, and hydrogen energy will meet the period of rapid development

Recently, the Beijing Winter Olympic flame, passed by about 1200 torchbearers, lit the “main torch” of the National Stadium. This is the world’s first set of high-pressure hydrogen storage torch, realizing zero carbon emission of the torch for the first time in the history of the Winter Olympic Games.

The Beijing Winter Olympics is known as the world’s first Olympic event to truly achieve “carbon neutrality”. In addition to the main torch, the Beijing Winter Olympics, as a clean energy venue, also achieved the world’s first large-scale demonstration investment of hydrogen powered vehicles. The application of hydrogen energy ushered in the highlight moment again.

Insiders predict that with the east wind of the Winter Olympics, the development wave of hydrogen energy industry in China is expected to embark on a new stage.

At present, the global energy industry is experiencing the third energy revolution in the direction of low-carbon, non-carbon and low pollution. Hydrogen energy will become an important medium of the third energy reform. It can be said that the development of hydrogen energy is the general trend of the world.

In addition to its unique design style, the Beijing Winter Olympic torch “flying” uses green, environmentally friendly and combustible hydrogen as fuel for the first time. It is the world’s first set of high-pressure hydrogen storage torch, realizing zero carbon emission of the torch in the history of the Winter Olympic Games. Truly combine the Olympic spirit with “green” and “environmental protection”.

Hydrogen energy is regarded as the clean energy with the most development potential in the 21st century. It has the characteristics of “clean, efficient, safe and sustainable”. It is known as the core of the future world energy architecture.

The application of hydrogen energy in the torch is like an epitome. Hydrogen energy plays an important role in helping Beijing Winter Olympics achieve carbon neutralization. In particular, relying on the concept of Green Olympics, hydrogen energy is deeply integrated into all aspects of the Winter Olympics.

According to the data released by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, the Beijing Winter Olympics will demonstrate the operation of more than 1000 hydrogen energy vehicles, equipped with more than 30 hydrogen refueling stations, which is the world’s largest fuel cell vehicle demonstration. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles from Toyota, BAIC group, Yutong Bus Co.Ltd(600066) , Beiqi Foton Motor Co.Ltd(600166) and other car companies will be invested in the Winter Olympics.

The large-scale application of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Beijing Winter Olympic Games has become a landmark event of China’s strong support for hydrogen energy vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are expected to gradually move from commercial vehicles with long endurance and large transport capacity to civil use.

According to the news released by Beijing public transport group, some hydrogen energy vehicles will be put into the daily operation of public transport in Yanqing District of Beijing after the completion of the event guarantee task of the Winter Olympic Games.

Industry insiders believe that the demonstration application of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games will enhance the confidence of enterprises and local governments in the application of hydrogen energy, and the utilization of hydrogen energy will usher in a period of rapid development.

Up to now, more than 20 provinces and cities have issued hydrogen energy related policies and plans to clarify the future development goals of hydrogen energy.

China hydrogen energy alliance predicts that under the background of carbon peak in 2030, the proportion of hydrogen energy in China’s terminal energy system will increase from 2.7% in 2019 to 6%. The corresponding annual demand for hydrogen will increase from 33.42 million tons in 2020 to 37.15 million tons in 2030 and 130 million tons in 2060, with an average annual growth rate of about 3.5%.

Zhou Yifeng, chairman of Hongda Xingye Co.Ltd(002002) said: “the obvious feature of the hydrogen energy industry is to promote industrial development through technological innovation. Therefore, in the future, including the research and development of hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogen transportation and hydrogenation technologies, will be the key elements for the large-scale application of the industry. Hongda Xingye Co.Ltd(002002) will also continue to increase investment in these aspects and achieve technological breakthroughs as soon as possible.”

It is understood that Hongda Xingye Co.Ltd(002002) is the first company in China to carry out liquid hydrogen production, storage and transportation linkage business. It is also a leading and internationally competitive major supplier of hydrogen energy in China. The company has unique industrial advantages in hydrogen production. The hydrogen produced by the company has low cost, high purity, no sulfur, heavy metals and other substances, and the purity can reach 99.9999%, which fully meets the national standard for the use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

At present, Hongda Xingye Co.Ltd(002002) has invested in the construction of China’s first civil liquid hydrogen plant, which has not only broken the extremely high technical barriers in the field of hydrogen liquefaction, but also filled the gap in China’s civil liquid hydrogen production. In addition, the company cooperates with scientific research institutions to develop low-cost and high-performance rare earth hydrogen storage materials, which have obvious advantages in fuel cell vehicles.
