Recently, Chile's constitutional assembly preliminarily adopted a proposal to promote the nationalization of copper, lithium and other strategic assets. The person in charge of the nationalization of Chile reported to the reporter on June 1 that the lithium mine has not actually landed in Chile. Previously, the company has signed a contract with the local government and obtained the lithium resource quota before December 31, 2030, which will not be changed. In addition, assuming that the nationalization policy of lithium mine in Chile is implemented, how to deal with the mining equity acquired by the company locally (the Chilean government) also needs to give specific plans.
According to the valuation report on the value of all equity of shareholders of Chilean chemical company (SQM) released in May 2018, CORFO (Production Development Corporation), the Chilean government's Industrial Development Agency, authorized to increase the quota of lithium products extracted by sqm salar, the Tianqi Lithium Corporation(002466) holding company, from Salar de Atacama salt lake. According to the agreement, sqm Salar will have the right to develop, process and sell up to 349553 tons of lithium metal during the lease term (i.e. before December 31, 2030). Plus the remaining 64816 tons of lithium metal quota under the original lease agreement and project agreement, the total is equivalent to 2.2 million tons of lithium carbonate quota.
