Volvo cars announced on the 4th that it will establish a new battery manufacturing plant with northvolt in Gothenburg, Sweden. The plant will start operation in 2026 and provide 3000 jobs. Previously, the two companies announced the establishment of a R & D center in December last year, with a total investment of about SEK 30 billion. It is reported that the battery production joint venture plant of northvolt and Volvo cars will become one of the largest battery manufacturers in Europe. Volvo cars and northvolt have appointed Adrian Clarke, a former Tesla executive, as the head of the plant.
