Panasonic began trial production of 4680 batteries this year and will give priority to meeting Tesla's needs

Hirokazu Umeda, chief financial officer of Panasonic, said on Wednesday that the company was upgrading some facilities and expected to start trial production of 4680 electric vehicle batteries at an undisclosed location in Japan at the beginning of the fiscal year starting in April. After that, the company also plans to conduct further trial production in Wakayama County near the headquarters of Panasonic Osaka, but the time and place of formal mass production have not been determined.

"Tesla has a very strong demand for 4680, so when we can really deliver 4680, we plan to give priority to Tesla," Umeda said
