“Snow swimming dragon” turns a thousand fold and a hundred turns to uncover the medical security of “F1 on snow”

The Beijing Winter Olympics is about to open. Snowmobile sledge can be called the fastest project in the Winter Olympics. The average speed of this “brave game” is more than 130 kilometers per hour, which is known as “F1 on snow”. Why is it difficult to save people on “Snow Dragon”? Why is the medical station located near the curve? Why do team members wear protective clothing Today, the people’s Hospital of Peking University, as the venue support hospital, revealed how to do a good job of medical security during the “Snow Dragon” competition.

The national snowmobile and sled center is located on the hillside of xiaohaituo mountain, the first snowmobile and sled project track of Olympic standard in China. It has a total length of 1975 meters and a vertical drop of 121 meters, with 16 curves with different angles and inclination. Because its shape is like a silver dragon circling on the ridge, it is vividly called “snow swimming dragon”. During the Winter Olympics, it will undertake all the competitions of snowmobile, steel snowmobile and sledge.

what are the dangerous situations during the game?

Snowmobile and sled race is known as “F1 on snow”. According to the medical security team, due to its “fast speed”, once an athlete rushes out of the track or hits the fence, his life will be in danger, and the light will have orthopedic injuries, such as shoulder and limb injuries, spinal trauma and head trauma. The incidence of concussion in head trauma is also very high. In previous competitions, there have been fatal accidents of athletes flying out of the track.

Therefore, in addition to wearing protective devices such as helmets, athletes also need to accurately control their bodies to ensure their own safety.

At the same time, professional, efficient and skilled medical security is particularly important.

Who escorts “F1 on snow”? The medical security team of the people’s Hospital of Peking University, a total of 54 members, is the core backbone from 27 clinical, medical technology and other disciplines. They learn from each other’s strengths and complement each other’s needs. They not only focus on the field of trauma treatment and bone trauma of athletes, but also take into account the needs of staff and audience. They are equipped with experts in trauma, orthopedics, surgery, emergency, internal medicine and other disciplines to meet various medical treatments that may occur in the whole venue. During the competition, the team members will participate in the security work at 6 medical stations: fop10 medical station (track medical station), fop15 medical station, departure area, end area, staff and audience area.

For more than two years, the team members started from understanding the competition items, repeatedly simulated exercises, and measured the valuable rescue map with their feet.

why is the medical station set up according to the “bend”?

“Xueyoulong” has 16 curves from top to bottom, of which the 11th is a 360 degree roundabout with global characteristics.

The medical station in the departure area is the place for athletes to prepare and start. Athletes are required to have explosive power. Therefore, athletes may have accidents such as muscle strain and joint injury here. Next is fop10 medical station. In case of an accident before the high point of spiral bend, the athlete may stay near turn 10; Next, it is at turn 15, which is the lowest point of the whole stadium, that is, the fastest point. The speed of athletes can reach 130 to 140 kilometers per hour, which is also the top priority of medical security in the whole competition. Further down is the end of the district medical station, where the athletes belong to the process of climbing the slope. In the process of slowing down, they will lose their balance and overturn and pry.

Why is it difficult to save people on “Snow Dragon”?

According to the medical security team, the whole track is very narrow, only 1.5 meters wide. In such a narrow track to achieve very high speed, it can be imagined that if there is an accident, the danger faced by athletes is very great.

The medical team members should rush to the location of the accident athlete quickly, but the super long curve makes it difficult to find the athlete. In addition to the requirements of the epidemic, medical team members need to wear secondary protection and run towards the athletes. The whole track is a slope and ice surface from top to bottom. The medical team members need to put on ice claws, stand on the ice surface of the slope and carry the athletes weighing 100 kilograms out of the track with a stretcher, which is also a great test for the physical strength of the medical team members.

why do medical team members wear protective clothing all the time?

The medical team said that under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, the pre certification guarantee activities and the world cup are important test activities for the entry and participation of a large number of overseas personnel for the first time, and the medical guarantee team members in the closed loop are required to maintain secondary protection throughout the whole process.

When the team members arrive at the medical station they serve, they need to wear protective clothing and stand by at any time.

The team members are divided into two groups according to the morning and evening shifts. Because there is no toilet in the medical station, the team members try not to drink water before departure. Once there is an accident on the track and rescue is needed, at least 6-8 people should arrive at the scene as quickly as possible in the shortest time.

Because the competitions are completed outdoors, the cold is another test for the medical team members. At the same time, the cleaning and disinfection of the medical station shall be the sole responsibility of the medical security team. Each medical station is generally divided into “three areas and two channels”, of which “three areas” are clean area, semi polluted area (buffer area) and polluted area. After wearing protective clothing, team members need to place all items and drugs in the station area, check the name and quantity, and also include cleaning, such as cleaning tables, wiping the floor, collecting garbage, sealing containers and taking out garbage, All team members should follow the process.

The 54 team members are divided into two groups according to different characters of high-risk and low-risk medical security, namely, the track and the spectator medical security area. The working and living areas of the two groups are not together. There are 8 team members who undertake the medical security task of the spectator medical station outside the closed loop. During the security period, food, accommodation and services cannot contact with the 46 team members serving the track in the closed loop. During work, they may meet occasionally and can only look at each other from a distance and greet each other in the space. (end)
