Banka, President of the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA), said at a press conference on the 2nd that the dry blood point detection method will be officially applied in the Olympic Games for the first time, and its prospect is expected.
According to Banka, the dry blood point detection method has some advantages compared with the traditional doping detection methods, such as more convenient sample collection, more convenient transportation and storage, etc. In some important events last year, this technology has been partially applied. At the Beijing Winter Olympics, the dry blood point detection method will become a routine detection method in anti doping detection for the first time.
According to Chen Zhiyu, director of China Anti Doping center, the dry blood point detection method is developed by China in the whole process. Compared with the traditional blood test, this method is fast, simple and economical, and the samples are easy to preserve and transport. Chen Zhiyu said that dry blood point is an innovative and revolutionary detection method. This is the first time that China has participated in an all-round innovation project in the field of Anti Doping. The center participates in the formulation of rules, inspection requirements, testing technology and equipment research and development, so as to ensure that this technology will be implemented in China at the first time. Before the Tokyo Olympic Games, China tested more than 400 cases of dry blood points.
Yang Yang, vice president of the World Anti Doping Agency, also attended the press conference on that day. She said that athletes do not want to break the rules from the beginning. Their dream is to win medals. For this reason, it is particularly important to protect and support their dreams and maintain the purity of sports.
