As the Spring Festival travel starts to enter the peak period this year, the charging problem of electric vehicles has once again become a hot spot during the Spring Festival travel.
On January 29, according to Shi Shuanglong, a staff member of State Grid electric vehicle service company, in an interview with China Central Television finance and economics, the charging peak of high-speed new energy vehicles during the Spring Festival this year has appeared, which is much earlier than last year.
Take the 23rd and 24th days of the twelfth lunar month (January 25 and 26) as an example, the daily charging capacity in the same period last year was only 300000 kwh, but it has reached 800000 kwh this year.
From the trend of daily charging capacity of expressway, it is expected that the maximum daily charging capacity during the Spring Festival this year will reach about 1.4 million kwh, nearly double that of last year.
In this regard, the State Grid smart car networking platform, which has connected more than 1 million charging piles across the country, predicts through big data analysis that charging queues may occur in some service areas of multiple high-speed highways during the Spring Festival transportation.
For the more concentrated charging demand of owners along the high-speed line during the Spring Festival transportation, Xiaopeng automobile told the interface news reporter that from January 25 to January 31 this year, Xiaopeng automobile provided services in Guangzhou, Shaoguan, Chenzhou, Changsha, Yueyang and six overcharge stations along Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao in Wuhan. Car owners passing by Xiaopeng will also receive new year gifts.
Up to now, Xiaopeng automobile has set up 14 super charging stations in the Beijing Hong Kong Macao Expressway (more than 2000 kilometers). There is an average of 170 Xiaopeng per kilometer.
On the eve of the Spring Festival transportation, Weilai automobile released the power exchange arrangement during the Spring Festival. From January 28 to February 8, all high-speed replacement power stations that have been put on line will operate normally, and the replacement power stations in the high-speed service area will provide services for 7 * 24 hours. However, a small number of power stations in non service areas will close the night shift according to the actual demand.
The interface news reporter noted that in addition to releasing the power change arrangement during the Spring Festival, Weilai also released a travel strategy during the Spring Festival on its owner community platform (Weilai APP).

In addition, the “private pile sharing” function launched by Weilai automobile is also more suitable for long holiday scenes such as the Spring Festival.
According to the introduction of Weilai automobile, during the long Spring Festival holiday, Weilai car owners can share the idle home piles with new energy car owners in need. Private pile sharing supports the automatic settlement function of shared charging, and can flexibly set the shared charging price and opening time.
According to the financial report of China Central Television, the State Grid has launched the “emergency charging cabin” service in response to the centralized large flow charging demand of electric vehicle owners. In this regard, Li Dong, deputy director of the marketing department of State Grid Shandong electric power company, said that during the Spring Festival transportation, the emergency charging cabin will be dispatched in real time and deployed in the high-speed service area with large charging demand.
According to the reporter, in addition to the State Grid, the car companies including Weilai, Xiaopeng and Tesla are stepping up the layout of the charging network.
According to Tesla‘s 2021 financial report, by the end of last year, Tesla had built 1000 super charging stations, 700 destination charging stations, 8000 super charging piles and 1800 destination charging piles in 360 cities and regions across the country.
On January 29, in order to meet the travel demand during the Spring Festival, Tesla also added 6 Super charging stations and 36 super charging piles.
According to Weilai automobile, at present, Weilai automobile has built a “five vertical, three horizontal and four metropolitan area high-speed power exchange network”. The service scope basically covers the main expressways in the north-south and east-west directions of the country.
In the face of the centralized charging demand generated by the centralized travel of the Spring Festival transportation, the State Grid said that during the Spring Festival transportation, it will study and judge the peak charging load of travel and return in real time, roll update the travel guide of new energy vehicles, and intelligently guide car owners to stagger peak charging.
