On the 26th, meituan announced that it would open a digital RMB payment channel for the whole scene of offline consumption of the platform. Users can pay through digital RMB and receive exclusive consumption subsidies when purchasing fresh food, taking a taxi or watching movies.

It is reported that the online digital RMB payment scenes include more than 200 offline consumption scenes of meituan platform, including catering, takeout, fresh food retail, bike sharing, meituan taxi, hotel tourism, film performance and leisure and entertainment, which also means that the digital RMB realizes the full scene coverage of the local life service platform.

The relevant person in charge of meituan said that before the arrival of the offline consumption peak of the Spring Festival, meituan opened a full scene digital RMB payment channel under the guidance of relevant departments and provided online consumption subsidies, aiming to enable more users to experience digital RMB and drive the recovery of offline consumption.

Data show that since January this year, nearly 90% of the digital RMB red envelopes in meituan digital RMB pilot activities have gone to daily consumption scenes of people’s lives such as takeout, vegetable shopping and catering. Among them, small transaction orders below 30 yuan account for the highest proportion, effectively driving the development of all kinds of people’s livelihood consumption and offline small and micro entity merchants.
