On January 20, Bloomberg New Energy Finance (Bloomberg Nef), an industry research institution focusing on new energy under Bloomberg, released the ranking list of green power transactions of Chinese enterprises, summarizing the most active buyers and sellers in the green power trading market of Chinese enterprises according to public information. According to the list, Alibaba cloud and intime department stores under Alibaba ranked first and fifth in the "ranking of China's green power procurement enterprises".
The ranking list of China's green power purchasing enterprises is Alibaba cloud (26.9 billion watt hours), Qinhuai data (18.3 billion watt hours), Juhua Group (5 billion watt hours), Yanshan Petrochemical (4 billion watt hours) and Zhejiang Yintai department store (billion watt hours). The data is based on the actual consumption in 2021 or the power consumption planned to be consumed in 2021.
Also released at the same time is the "ranking list of green power transaction sellers of Chinese enterprises", which is ranked by CGN new energy, China Resources Power Holdings, Beijing Tianrun new energy, Sichuan chuanneng intelligent network and state power investment group.
2021 is called "the first year of carbon neutralization", and "carbon neutralization" is written into the government work report and officially becomes the national strategy. Enterprises also began to show their attitude and responsibility towards the environment.
At the end of 2021, Alibaba released the Alibaba carbon neutralization action report, which is understood to be the first carbon neutralization action report of Chinese Internet technology enterprises. According to the report, Alibaba promises to achieve 100% carbon neutrality of the power required for global production and operation by 2030. To this end, alibaba will continue to increase the renewable proportion of power supply.
The report disclosed that from 2018 to 2020, Alibaba purchased renewable energy power, with the largest trading volume and usage in China's Internet industry. From January to October 2021, Alibaba has purchased 254 million kwh of renewable energy.
Among them, Alibaba Zhangbei data center has become the first carbon inclusive pilot project in the industry. Through Hebei North Power Trading Center, it purchases 100 million kwh Cecep Solar Energy Co.Ltd(000591) optoelectronics for power supply in the fourth quarter of 2021, and realizes the large-scale direct use of traceable green power in the data center for the first time in China.
According to the report, in November 2020, Yintai department store under Alibaba purchased 30 million kwh of green power from Datang Zhejiang branch, which is also the first green power transaction in department store retail industry in Zhejiang Province.
In addition, the report also introduces that by 2030, all power demand in central and Southeast Asia will be increased by purchasing renewable energy.
In addition to purchasing renewable energy, Alibaba also proposes to achieve it through targeted efficiency and emission reduction, carbon elimination and carbon offset.
