The countdown to the Winter Olympics – the Youth Sports International Forum “welcoming the new opportunities of the Winter Olympics to the future” was held in Beijing

On January 16, the International Youth Sports Forum “welcoming the new opportunities of the Winter Olympics and looking to the future” was held in Beijing. Fu Zhenbang, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Youth League Central Committee and vice president of the all China Youth Federation, attended the forum and delivered a speech. More than 70 people, including the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, relevant international organizations and foreign youth, heads of sports organizations, representatives of active retired athletes, experts and scholars in the sports industry, representatives of young volunteers, representatives of college students and relevant principals of the organizers, contractors and support units of the event, participated in the event.

The forum set up keynote speeches, round table dialogues and other links to discuss and exchange on the themes of welcoming the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics, promoting the development of ice and snow sports and supporting youth innovation and entrepreneurship. Yang Yang, chairman of the Athletes Committee of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, and Zhang Lina, Vice Minister of the Volunteer Department of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, made keynote speeches on “inheriting the Winter Olympic culture and carrying forward the Winter Olympic spirit”. Lu Peihe, the representative of UNHCR in China, himadrishe Suwan, the president of the Indian Federation of youth leaders, and kheiji Nakasone, the president of the Japan Youth League agreement Association, made keynote speeches on “the spirit of the times and youth responsibility of the Winter Olympics”. Chinese men’s short track speed skater Wu Dajing, Zhang Ting, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of Tsinghua University, representatives of volunteers for the Winter Olympic Games and college students made keynote speeches around “the Winter Olympic Games, the spiritual outlook of Chinese youth in the new era”.

Xu Jiren, director of the sports department of Xinhua news agency, Pascal ranttier, chairman of the Athletes Committee of the World Taekwondo Association, Wu Jingyu, taekwondo Olympic champion, Chen Guihe, chairman of the Hong Kong Students’ Federation of colleges and universities in Beijing, and Zhou Xing, the presenter of the bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, focused on the topic of “new mission of sports and youth development in the context of the new era”, Zhang Li, chief planner of Zhangjiakou competition area of Beijing Winter Olympics, Tong Jian, world champion of figure skating, and Wang Xueli, director of sports industry development research center of Tsinghua University, exchanged and shared experiences around the topic of “2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, sharing new opportunities for development”.

The forum was guided by the International Liaison Department of the League Central Committee and hosted by China Youth Entrepreneurship and employment foundation. The activity aims to create a good atmosphere for welcoming the Winter Olympics, guide more young talents to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship in the sports field, and promote the development of the sports industry.
