On May 23 local time, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of meta, the parent company of Facebook, a US social media platform, was indicted by Carl Racine, the Attorney General of Washington, D.C., who accused Zuckerberg of directly participating in the decision-making leading to data disclosure related to Cambridge analysis.
Rahim said in a statement that there was evidence that Facebook, a subsidiary of meta, failed to protect the privacy and data of its users, and Zuckerberg personally participated in it, which directly led to the relevant data disclosure.
Cambridge analytics was previously exposed to obtain tens of millions of user data from Facebook in an improper way and use the data analysis results to accurately push advertisements, which affected the results of the 2016 US election.
