The first 500 billion state grid will be broken, and the power grid investment will reach a new high this year

State Grid Corporation of China (hereinafter referred to as State Grid) has increased its investment in power grid this year.

The interface news learned from a person close to the state grid that on January 13, the State Grid held an annual working meeting and planned to invest 501.2 billion yuan in the power grid in 2022.

This is the first time that the company's annual power grid investment plan exceeded 500 billion yuan, a record high, with a year-on-year increase of 8.84%.

In 2020, the State Grid will complete the power grid investment of 460.5 billion yuan, and promises to complete the power grid investment of 473 billion yuan in 2021.

According to the interface news, the power grid infrastructure investment of the State Grid in 2021 was 402.48 billion yuan.

Power grid investment has always been an important way of steady growth. Under the background of the vigorous development of new energy, UHV power grid continues to usher in incremental demand.

According to the Research Report of Guorong securities, the power grid is an important link of reverse cycle regulation. With the superposition of problems such as large-scale consumption of new energy and changes in load structure, the investment in the power grid industry will be accelerated.

China Energy News recently quoted informed sources as saying that the state will launch a new round of UHV construction on a large scale this year, and all planned projects are expected to be approved. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, the State Grid planned to build the "24 AC and 14 DC" UHV project, involving more than 30000 kilometers of lines, with a total investment of 380 billion yuan.

Among them, the State Grid plans to start "10 AC and 3 DC" 13 UHV lines in 2022. This means that UHV power grid will usher in a new round of construction peak. Affected by this good news, UHV concept stocks once rose sharply.

During the 14th Five Year Plan period, both state grid and China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Southern Power Grid) plan to increase power grid investment.

Xin Baoan, director of the State Grid, said that during the 14th Five Year Plan period, the State Grid plans to invest 350 billion US dollars (about 2.23 trillion yuan).

China Southern Power Grid put forward that the planned investment in power grid construction in the 14th five year plan is about 670 billion yuan, 36% higher than that in the 13th five year plan.

Based on this calculation, the power grid investment of the two power grid companies in the 14th five year plan will exceed 2.9 trillion yuan. This is 13% higher than the total investment of the national power grid in the 13th five year plan; 45% higher than that during the 12th Five Year Plan period.

According to the data of the national energy administration, from January to November 2021, the national power grid project investment completed 410.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%.

Up to now, China Southern Power Grid has not announced this year's power grid investment plan.

In 2014, the power grid investment of the State Grid entered a stage of great development. In that year, the "two communications" UHV project was officially started, and the UHV power grid entered a new stage of comprehensive and large-scale construction and accelerated development. The State Grid completed a power grid investment of 338.5 billion yuan, an increase of 14.1%.

In 2015, in order to solve the problems of abandoning wind, water and light, the construction of power transmission channel became the highlight of power grid construction. In that year, the investment of the State Grid reached 420.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24%.

In 2016, the State Grid's investment in power grid reached a high of 497.7 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 18.44%. A strong smart grid with UHV as the backbone grid and coordinated development of power grids at all levels was built to increase the consumption capacity of clean energy.

In 2017, the progress of UHV construction in China slowed down, only two projects were approved that year, and the power grid investment of the State Grid also went downhill.

From 2017 to 2019, the actual amount of power grid investment completed by the state grid was 485.4 billion yuan, 488.9 billion yuan and 447.4 billion yuan respectively.

In 2020, UHV will become one of the key investment areas of the new infrastructure strategy. The State Grid has increased the investment scale of UHV, and the investment amount of power grid in that year has also increased.

The state grid was established in December 2002. Its core business is to invest in the construction and operation of the power grid. Its business area covers 26 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government). The power supply scope accounts for 88% of the land area and the power supply population exceeds 1.1 billion.
