Tianjin: let social work services benefit thousands of households

Tianjin North network news: Tianjin Civil Affairs Department has set up 65 Street (township) social work service stations in the city. Social workers and volunteers work together to serve residents’ needs.

There are 20 community neighborhood committees and 162 staff in TEDA street, Binhai New Area. They need to provide services to about 100000 residents, which is short of manpower. In order to make up for the shortcomings of community service, 65 Street (township) social work service stations have been established in Tianjin, radiating 488 communities and villages in the city. Every year, the civil affairs department gives financial support, selects qualified social organizations, and is responsible for daily operation and services.

TEDA street social work service station in Binhai New Area was officially listed on July 23 last year and operated by Tianjin Yungong social work development center. It is the first street social work station in Tianjin.

TEDA street social work station has been assisting the neighborhood committee in elderly services, child care and protection, key groups and other work since its establishment for more than 8 months. In the past, when there were elderly people in the community who needed temporary purchase, they told the neighborhood committee. Now, after receiving the demand, the neighborhood committee will also forward it to the social work station synchronously. In order to enable more people to participate in community services, the social work station has recruited more than 80 courier volunteers for nearly 20 courier stations in the street. They are familiar with the community environment. Now, for the demand of errand shopping, courier volunteers will rush orders according to their own work conditions. During the delivery period, the courier will timely feed back to the social work station and neighborhood committee to help maintain the community environment if he finds the health dead corner and other phenomena in the community.

At present, TEDA street has built a service system of “street + social work station + community”, forming two main lines of “professional service + community governance”. At the same time, the street has also established a supervision mechanism to promote the standardized management and operation of social work stations. This model will also be further expanded and popularized in the city. (Jin Yun news editor Zhang Qilin)
