China’s auto industry has made brilliant achievements in the new energy track after three years of continuous decline in production and sales

In the first year of the 14th five year plan, China’s automobile industry has achieved new results and seen new weather.

On the afternoon of January 12, the Ministry of industry and information technology held a press conference to introduce the development of China’s automobile industry in 2021.

As Wang Weiming, director of the first equipment industry department of the Ministry of industry and information technology, said, automobile is an important pillar industry of the national economy, with a long industrial chain, wide coverage and high degree of internationalization. In this critical period of technological change and ecological reconstruction, the task of ensuring stable operation and promoting transformation and upgrading is extremely arduous.

Overcoming many adverse conditions, in 2021, China’s automobile production and sales completed 26.082 million and 26.275 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 3.4% and 3.8% respectively, ending the downward trend for three consecutive years, and contributing an important force to the sustained recovery and development of China’s industrial economy and stable macroeconomic growth.

Over the past decade, China’s auto exports have been hovering around 1 million. In 2021, China’s automobile export reached a record high, exceeding 2 million vehicles for the first time. Among them, the export of new energy vehicles was outstanding, with a year-on-year increase of 3 times, and the European market became the main incremental market.

Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and Secretary General of China Automobile Industry Association, said: “new energy vehicles are the biggest highlight in 2021. They have changed from policy driven to market driven new development stage, showing a good development situation of double improvement of market scale and development quality, which has laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the automobile industry in the 14th five year plan.”

Guo Shougang said that in order to promote the high-quality development of the intelligent networked automobile industry, the Ministry of industry and information technology will further strengthen the consensus on the coordinated development of single vehicle intelligence and networked intelligence, accelerate the integration and innovation of key common technologies such as operating system, high-precision sensor and wire controlled chassis, and strengthen the formulation of technical standards and the coordination of international regulations urgently needed in China, Organize large-scale pilot demonstration and commercialization exploration of coordinated development of vehicles and roads.

In 2021, under the background of the overall stable and sustained recovery of China’s macroeconomic operation, China’s automobile market presents an obvious consumption upgrading trend, the development toughness of the automobile industry continues to maintain, and the main indicators of economic benefits of key enterprises maintain growth.

Zhu Huarong, rotating president of China Automobile Industry Association, stressed that the fair and just marketing environment in the Chinese market provides fertile ground for global brand development. The technical capability of mainstream Chinese brands has been fully built, product innovation continues, and product quality has reached or even exceeded the level of some international brands. Nevertheless, Chinese brands still need to reshape their ability and improve their brand value.
