Foreign enterprises actively cooperate with the resumption of work and production in Shanghai, and Tesla and Medtronic are in preparation

The first financial reporter learned on April 18 that a number of foreign-funded enterprises in Shanghai are actively cooperating with the government to prepare for the resumption of work and production.

People from Tesla Shanghai Lingang Holdings Co.Ltd(600848) super factory, an electric vehicle giant, told China Business News: “at present, we are actively preparing for the resumption of work, mainly on the premise of ensuring safe production and promoting the resumption of work according to the requirements of epidemic prevention policies.” He also said that another prerequisite for returning to work is that the personnel and supply chain are ready.

The first financial reporter also learned that Medtronic, a global medical device giant, is also actively striving for resumption of work and production. “At present, the Shanghai factory is applying for a resumption certificate and is waiting for approval,” a relevant person told the first financial reporter

Last Friday, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of economy and information technology issued the guidelines for the prevention and control of the epidemic situation of industrial enterprises returning to work and production. The Ministry of industry and information technology set up a white list of 666 key enterprises to ensure the smooth transfer of supply chain, concentrate resources and give priority to the resumption of work and production in key industries such as integrated circuit, automobile manufacturing, equipment manufacturing and biomedicine.

Siemens Medical confirmed to the first financial reporter that the company belongs to 666 enterprises on the white list.

In addition, in response to the earlier news that 3M, DuPont, BASF and other enterprises refused to return to work, DuPont said in a statement sent to the first financial reporter on April 18 that the company supported and actively cooperated with the government’s arrangements for returning to work and production.

“The factory has made various plans and measures. Once the government approval is obtained and the colleagues are allowed to leave the community and return to the factory, we will resume production,” the statement said

BASF also told China first finance: “the online news is not true. Since late March, BASF’s production bases in Shanghai have been in closed-loop operation. Although the production capacity has been reduced during the closure and control period, the production activities have not been interrupted. We support the Guidance Opinions of Shanghai municipal government on resumption of work and production.”
