China’s first megawatt flywheel energy storage device put into operation

On April 12, the reporter of E company learned from Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Co.Ltd(600416) that on April 11, China’s first 1 MW flywheel energy storage device was installed and debugged at wannianquan Road Station of Qingdao Metro Line 3 and successfully connected to the grid. The project is jointly developed by Xiangdian power, a subsidiary of the company, and has completely independent intellectual property rights. After the device is fully applied in Qingdao metro, it can save 15% of traction energy consumption, save 50 million kwh of power per year and reduce carbon dioxide emission by about 50000 tons per year. The device has a wide range of applications. In addition to rail transit, it can also be used in power, energy, petrochemical, shipbuilding and other industries.
