For example, Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings Limited(000488) recently announced that the price of Chenming cultural paper series products will be increased by 300 yuan / ton.
Besides cultural paper, the price of household paper is also rising. According to media reports, on March 15, Shandong Sun Paper Co.Ltd(002078) household paper base paper delivery price increased by 300 yuan / ton, with a cumulative increase of 500 yuan / ton in the past month.
In terms of paper jam and grasin paper, the listed company Quzhou Wuzhou Special Paper Co.Ltd(605007) said that on February 21, the company sent a price increase letter of 300 yuan / ton of food paper jam; In mid February, the company raised the price of glasin paper by 500 yuan / ton, and in March, it also raised the price by 500 yuan / ton.
In addition, with the recent price increases announced by nine dragons, Shanying, Liwen and other paper mills, corrugated paper and box board paper also ushered in the price rise tide.
China news finance reporter noted that this wave of price rise of paper enterprises is not limited to China.
In Japan, Dawang paper has raised all household tissue paper and toilet paper by more than 15% since March 22; Japanese paper crecia will raise the price of more than 30 kinds of facial tissue paper, toilet paper and kitchen paper by more than 10% from April 1.
In Europe, SCA, a multinational sanitary products and forestry company, said it would increase the price of white and brown kraft paper by 100 euros per ton from April 1.
why is there a “price rise” in paper products
This wave of price increases in paper enterprises involves many kinds of cultural paper, cardboard, household paper and so on. Why do many kinds of paper collectively raise prices?
“Wood pulp is the price rise of downstream products. The biggest driving factor is that the price of upstream wood pulp continues to be high.” Yin Ting, an analyst at Zhuo Chuang information, told Zhongxin finance and economics that although energy price is an influencing factor, according to the recent monitoring, the impact of energy price increase on the market is not particularly large, and the cost increase is mainly concentrated in slurry.
“The Chinese market is highly dependent on the import of pulp, and the import dependence of wood pulp is more than 60%. In particular, coniferous pulp is basically imported.” Yin Ting said that the maintenance and other dynamics of some foreign pulp mills will affect the supply and transmit to China, which will lead to the rise of pulp prices.
Shenyin Wanguo Securities also pointed out that the slurry price continued to perform strongly, mainly due to the contraction of the supply side. On the one hand, affected by extreme weather and strikes, road and railway transportation in Canada was blocked, and the shipment volume fell; On the other hand, Finnish UPM workers began to strike on January 1 and are currently expected to strike until April 2. In addition, the inbound price of Chinese wood pulp is lower than that in the two major demand regions of Europe and the United States, and Brazil reduces the export volume of broad-leaved pulp to China.
According to the monitoring of the National Bureau of statistics, in early March, the price of pulp (imported coniferous pulp) in the national circulation field was 7009.8 yuan, an increase of 14.7% in two months compared with 6111.6 yuan in early January.
how will the paper price follow up
The price increase letters from major paper enterprises came like snowflakes, which also made people worry that the subsequent paper prices will go higher and higher.
In this regard, Yin Ting said, “the prices of cultural paper and household paper may still be strong. Cultural paper has the support of demand in the short term, and may rise in a narrow range in April, but it is difficult for the price of household paper to rise again. Terminal channels like some supermarkets will have various promotions. If the price of finished products cannot rise, it will restrict the price rise of base paper.”
“Supermarket tissue often engage in activities, and I don’t feel a significant rise in price.” A resident of Fengtai District in Beijing also told Zhongxin finance and economics reporter, “like a bag of roll paper of a brand bought before, the promotion was to sell more than 19 yuan at that time, and now it has risen to 32 yuan, but the price of another roll paper has been reduced from 25 yuan to 20 yuan.”
In terms of white cardboard, Ma Yuanyuan, an Huaan Securities Co.Ltd(600909) analyst, believes that in terms of external demand, export orders are still in short supply, and the export boom is expected to continue; In terms of domestic demand, it is the traditional peak season from the end of April. Combined with the inventory level, it is expected that the downstream will be more willing to replenish inventory, and domestic demand will maintain steady growth; In terms of supply, the short-term capacity climb has limited supply pressure on the market. It is expected that the short-term paper price of white card will be strong, which does not rule out the possibility that paper enterprises will raise slightly again.
