Chen Shihua of China Automobile Association: the price rise of raw materials has been brought into the monitoring vision, and action has been intensified in the near future

In response to the upsurge of rising prices of raw materials, Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary General of China Automobile Industry Association, pointed out: first, the current round of unconventional rise in raw material prices deviates from the normal relationship between supply and demand and belongs to irrational rise. In order to seize the last window period before lithium capacity expansion, the speculation party hoards strange things and deliberately bid up prices. The pricing of upstream enterprises should return to rationality, and automobile enterprises should also stabilize their footing. Second, driving up the price of raw materials for power batteries is very destructive to the new energy vehicle industry, which has been cultivated for more than a decade and is in the period of declining subsidies and shifting forward. It affects the steady and healthy development of new energy vehicles, a national strategic emerging industry, and also affects the "double cycle" pattern being constructed, which runs counter to the national development strategy. Third, since the second half of 2021, China Automobile Industry Association has brought the price rise of raw materials into the monitoring field of vision, and recently strengthened its action and submitted response suggestions to relevant competent departments. The competent national authorities have made it clear that they will resolutely crack down on this kind of unfair competition.
