On March 17, the Beidou railway industry comprehensive application demonstration project, a major special project of China’s Beidou satellite navigation system, passed the project acceptance review jointly organized by China Spacesat Co.Ltd(600118) navigation system management office and the State Railway Administration in Beijing.
“After beidou-3 global networking, the demonstration project systematically verified the maturity and popularization of ‘beidou-3 replacement / main use’ in nine railway business sections for the first time, and applied beidou-3 high-precision positioning and Beidou short message communication technology to the application scenario of railway train approach early warning for the first time.” The experts who participated in the project acceptance on the same day agreed that the success of the demonstration project laid a solid foundation for China to establish a dual system of “application + standard” in the railway industry, and promoted the in-depth integration of the two “national business cards” of China’s Beidou and China’s high-speed railway.
Beidou railway industry comprehensive application demonstration project is the first batch of comprehensive application demonstration projects of national Beidou major special project for the railway industry. It is jointly undertaken by China Railway fifth survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. On October 10, 2020, as one of the subprojects of the demonstration project, the Beidou inertial integrated navigation railway track geometric state measuring instrument (commonly known as “Beidou inertial navigation car”) completed the precise measurement of ballasted track at the construction site of Beijing Shenyang high-speed railway, marking the first engineering application of Beidou 3 global satellite navigation system in the field of high-speed railway construction after its opening.

Up to now, the demonstration application of Beidou Railway Public Works inspection has deployed 3594 terminals in 12 railway public works departments, such as Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan.
At the same time, a demonstration project of early warning and protection application based on Beidou position automatic sensing was carried out in the railway demonstration project in the mining area of Pingmei Group. “Early warning and protection vehicle terminals and handheld terminals have been developed. At the same time, combined with the train dispatching command / centralized dispatching system and shunting monitoring system, an early warning and protection system based on Beidou position automatic sensing has been developed.” Rao Xiong said that the project has realized the position positioning and safety early warning protection functions of trackside operators and locomotives and vehicles on Railway electrical and public works and other operation lines, completed the collision protection of trains and trackside operators, and effectively improved the safety level of on-line operators and vehicles.
It is reported that the comprehensive application demonstration project of Beidou railway industry has synchronously completed 71 Beidou intellectual property layout and patent early warning, helping to build a “five in one” Beidou application industry with product serialization, technology standardization, application scale, service industrialization and market globalization.
Experts said that one belt, one road to the world’s monopoly, will help build the original technology source of Beidou industry, and promote the construction of upstream and downstream industries into the “two new” (new infrastructure, new towns and communications, water conservancy and other major projects), and play a convergence role in the “one belt and one road” initiative.
