On January 4, the reporter learned from Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid that the annual power consumption of Shenzhen reached 110.34 billion kwh in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 12.2% over 2020 and 13.4% over 2019 before the epidemic, which fully demonstrated the vitality and toughness of Shenzhen’s economy. Last year, the three major indicators of Shenzhen’s electric power: the maximum load, power consumption and power supply of the whole society in Shenzhen were 20.38 million KW, 110.34 billion kWh and 106.56 billion kwh respectively, all reaching a record high. The growth rate of power consumption and power supply in the whole society reached 12.2% and 12.8% respectively, both of which were the best levels since the 13th five year plan.

Shenzhen’s economic development is strong and powerful, and its power consumption density ranks first among super large cities. The annual power consumption per square kilometer reaches 45 million kwh, which is 1.6 times that of Shanghai, 5.9 times that of Beijing and 3 times that of Guangzhou. The power supply reliability takes the lead in entering the half-hour circle among China’s major cities, surpassing London and other world-class cities and reaching the world leading level.

The data show that Shenzhen Energy Group Co.Ltd(000027) structure and industry layout continue to transform towards high-end manufacturing, information transmission, green and low-carbon, and the gold content of economic development continues to increase. In the past three years, in the secondary industry, the power consumption of high-end manufacturing industry accounted for more than 30%, and increased rapidly at the rate of 1% per year, gradually replacing high-energy consumption and high pollution enterprises such as metal products and plastic products, and becoming the pillar of the industry. In the industry, the power consumption of high value-added industries such as computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing, general equipment manufacturing and pharmaceutical manufacturing increased by 16.9%, 11% and 17.0% respectively over the same period last year.

The power consumption of the tertiary industry is increasing year by year. In 2021, the power consumption of information transmission, software and information technology service industry reached 3.01 billion kwh, a year-on-year increase of 23.36% over 2020, and the power consumption has increased by 53.57% in recent three years, far exceeding the increase of power consumption of the whole society.

It is worth mentioning that as the first 5g full coverage city in China, Shenzhen’s 5g power consumption reached 272 million kwh in 2021, with a significant year-on-year increase of 100.39%, and the power consumption doubled. From the side, it is further verified that Shenzhen has achieved remarkable results in investing, deploying and exploring in advance in Internet transformation and 5g promotion. As the number of electric vehicles and the density of charging piles rank first in China, in 2021, the power consumption of charging piles reached 3.2 billion kwh, accounting for 3% of the power consumption of the whole society, an increase of 18.89% over the same period last year and 668% over the initial stage of the 13th five year plan.
