Wi Fi chips are widely used, in short supply or will continue
In terms of supply, the production capacity of wi-fi5 chip is insufficient due to the supply of multiple production lines of 40nm process wafers; In terms of demand, the development of the Internet of things and the improvement of 5g penetration have led to the continuous rise in the demand for Wi Fi chips. The supply-demand gap provides an opportunity for wi-fi6 to accelerate penetration. Wi-fi6 has higher transmission speed and better performance in congested areas, supports 2.4G and 5g bands, has a full version of MU-MIMO (supports uplink / downlink of 8 terminals), and introduces OFDMA technology. According to IDC’s prediction, China’s wi-fi6 market share will reach 470 million US dollars in 2021.

Qualcomm expects to ship wi-fi7 in 2024. Wi-fi7 is expected to support 16 data streams, coordinate multi-user MIMO (cmu-mimo) and introduce technologies such as multi link operation (MLO), multi AP coordination and 320mhz bandwidth channel, so as to have higher synergy, transmission rate and lower delay.
