On March 6, China Federation of logistics and purchasing released data that the global manufacturing PMI in February 2022 was 54.9%, a slight increase of 0.2 percentage points over the previous month, and stable at more than 54% for two consecutive months. In terms of subregions, the manufacturing PMI in the Americas and Africa increased compared with the previous month, while the manufacturing PMI in Asia and Europe decreased compared with the previous month.
From the change of the index, the global economy continues the recovery trend. From January to February 2022, the average PMI of global manufacturing industry was 54.8%, slightly 0.2 percentage points lower than the same period last year, indicating that the strength of economic recovery still needs to be improved. Under the disturbance of the epidemic, the stability of the global supply chain needs to be consolidated.
In February 2022, the PMI of African manufacturing industry increased by 2.7 percentage points to 52.8% compared with the previous month, ending the month on month decline trend for two consecutive months, indicating that the recovery speed of African manufacturing industry has accelerated compared with the previous month. From the perspective of major countries, Nigeria's manufacturing industry has recovered significantly compared with last month, which has better driven the overall recovery of African manufacturing industry. The PMI of Asian manufacturing industry decreased slightly by 0.3 percentage points to 51.6% compared with the previous month, indicating that the growth rate of Asian manufacturing industry slowed down compared with the previous month. The PMI of European manufacturing industry was 56.9%, down 0.6 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that the growth rate of European manufacturing industry slowed down compared with the previous month. The PMI of manufacturing industry in the Americas increased by 1 percentage point to 57.4% compared with the previous month, ending the month on month decline trend for two consecutive months. According to the data of major countries, the PMI of manufacturing industries in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Mexico increased to varying degrees compared with the previous month.
