Among them, "artificial synthesis from carbon dioxide to starch" was completed by Ma Yanhe research team of Tianjin Institute of industrial biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. By designing the unnatural pathway from carbon dioxide to starch synthesis from scratch and using modular reaction adaptation and protein engineering, the research team has solved the problems of computer pathway thermodynamic matching, metabolic flow balance and by-product inhibition, and overcome the problems of artificial pathway assembly and cascade reaction evolution, Finally, an artificial starch synthesis pathway (ASAP) composed of 11 core reactions was formed. This pathway coupled chemical catalysis and biocatalysis reaction, realized the artificial total synthesis from carbon dioxide and hydrogen to starch molecules in the laboratory without relying on plant photosynthesis, made it possible for starch production to change from traditional agricultural planting mode to industrial workshop production mode, and made an original breakthrough.

Chen Huining and Fudan University cooperated to produce high-performance lithium-ion batteries. The research team systematically revealed the variation law of internal resistance of fiber lithium-ion battery with length, effectively solved the problem of interface stability between active materials and fiber electrodes, and continuously constructed a new fiber polymer lithium-ion battery with good safety and comprehensive electrochemical performance, meeting the requirements of highly integrated and flexible development of electronic products. The fiber lithium-ion battery system developed in this research has the same electrochemical performance as commercial lithium-ion battery, and has better stability and safety. The fiber polymer lithium-ion battery with a length of 1 meter can continuously and effectively power wearable electronic devices such as smart phones, bracelets and heart rate monitors for a long time. They also established the world's first fiber lithium-ion battery production line and realized its large-scale continuous preparation.
