Nanchang Changsha 1000 kV high voltage AC project put into operation

The reporter learned from the state grid that the Nanchang Changsha 1000 kV high voltage AC project was officially put into operation on the 26th. The project is the first UHV power transmission and transformation project started in China during the 14th Five Year Plan period, creating a new record that it took only 10 months from commencement to completion.

As an important part of UHV backbone grid in Central China, Nanchang Changsha project starts from 1000 kV Substation in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province and ends at 1000 kV Substation in Changsha, Hunan Province. Two 1000 kV substations in Nanchang and Changsha are newly built, with a new 12 million KVA substation capacity and a line length of 2 × 341 km, with a total investment of 10.2 billion yuan.

The project realizes the direct interconnection between Jiangxi and Hunan power grids through 1000 kV high-voltage backbone grid, which is of great significance to improve the external power receiving capacity and safety and stability level of Jiangxi Hunan power grid, enhance the optimal allocation capacity of energy resources in Central China, ensure the reliable supply of power, and implement the development strategy of the Yangtze River economic belt.

Xin Baoan, director of the State Grid, said that the Nanchang Changsha project will play the role of basic guarantee, support and pull of the power grid to serve the rise of the central region and the revitalization and development of the old revolutionary base areas; It is also a practical role to coordinate development and security, promote energy transformation, serve the “double carbon” goal, and help build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system.

At present, central China receives hydropower, wind power, Cecep Solar Energy Co.Ltd(000591) and other types of power through five DC channels, which needs to be optimized by relying on the large power grid platform in the region. Nanchang Changsha project is an important part of the “Japanese” ring network in Central China, which can greatly improve the power exchange capacity between provinces and help build a power grid platform with complementary scenery, water and fire in Central China. It not only meets the growing demand for power exchange between central China, especially Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, but also improves the power transmission capacity of DC channels such as Jiuquan Hunan and Yazhong Jiangxi projects, promotes the large-scale development of wind power and hydropower in Gansu and Sichuan, and the joint export of coal and electricity, further expanding the scope of clean energy consumption.

At present, the State Grid has built a total of “15 AC and 13 DC” UHV projects, the length of lines under construction has reached 46000 kilometers, the transformation (converter) capacity has exceeded 480 million KVA (kw), and the cumulative power transmission has exceeded 2 trillion kwh.
