Sharing bicycle tires and turning into an environmentally friendly stadium, meituan and Yao fund jointly help rural teenagers grow up healthily

A color environment-friendly stadium made of recycled tires of shared bicycles and motorcycles recently landed in Yunnan. At the launching ceremony of meituan · Yao fund’s “meituan cycling into a stadium – Yao basket plan” held on December 18, sun Keqing, vice president of meituan, and Yao Ming, chairman of China Basketball Association and initiator of Yao fund, officially delivered the stadium to Longjie primary school in Songming County, Yunnan Province, which is also the first stadium delivered by the project.

In the future, the “meituan cycling course – Yao basket plan” will build another 26 environmental protection plastic courses across the country. While rebuilding the plastic environmental protection courses for rural teenagers, it will further alleviate the problems such as the shortage of physical education teachers and lack of sports activities in rural primary schools through professional volunteer teaching, inviting children to train with CBA Players and watching competitions, Let more rural students grow up because of sports.

rural primary schools welcome new courses and new teachers

Longjie primary school in Yangqiao street, Songming County, Kunming is a rural complete primary school. The school was founded in 1950, with 15 faculty and 239 students.

According to the principal Shi Xiang, the school has many students who love basketball and a strong basketball atmosphere. The school sets up a basketball after-school interest group every week. However, the original cement basketball court of the school has been built for a long time and is seriously damaged. Some of the ground is cracked and uneven. Students are prone to sprain, fall and scratch when playing. At the same time, the school lacks full-time physical education teachers, and the existing physical education can only be held by teachers of other subjects. Teachers and students are looking forward to a safer basketball court and more professional PE teachers.

In April this year, Yao foundation brought supporting teachers majoring in sports to Longjie primary school to bring more systematic basketball teaching to children. At the beginning of December, the construction team invited by the “meituan shared bicycle into Stadium” project entered the school, and more than 2000 new courses made of shared bicycle recycling tires were soon completed.

“Originally, our stadium was the worst nearby. Now, I dare say it is the best outdoor stadium in the county.” Shi Xiang said. After the completion of the new stadium, the children’s enthusiasm for playing under the leadership of support teachers is higher, “even if it is a 15 minute recess, they will play with basketball.”

another 26 Rural plastic courts will be built next year

The reporter learned that the “shared bicycle into Stadium” project will make the recycled tires of the difficult to reuse shared bicycle into an environmentally friendly plastic stadium, and has rebuilt 19 stadiums for rural primary and secondary schools in many parts of the country. “Meituan cycling into golf course – Yao basket plan” is an iterative extension of the project of “sharing cycling into golf course”. In 2022, the plan will land 26 environmental protection plastic golf courses in rural schools all over the country through the combination of “Golf Course + support education” to improve the physical education conditions of rural teenagers.

At the project launching ceremony, sun Keqing, vice president of meituan, said that meituan’s bicycle and motorcycle business has been committed to sustainable development and launched the “shared bicycle into a stadium” project under the guidance of green, low-carbon and circular economy. Since the launch of the project in June 2020, many rural children have witnessed changes due to basketball and sports. Today, I am honored to reach a long-term strategic cooperation with Yao foundation. The upgraded project will continue to implement the concept of “cradle to cradle”, combine low-carbon travel with public welfare undertakings, and bring a healthier and better childhood to rural children.

It is reported that the cycling of meituan shared bicycles and motorcycles replaces high-carbon trips such as private cars, reduces the carbon emissions of transportation, helps to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutralization, and reduces the carbon emissions in the whole life cycle of vehicles through recycling, which can further improve the effectiveness of carbon emission reduction. According to the report on pollution reduction and carbon reduction by shared cycling issued by the environmental development center of the Ministry of ecological environment, since the operation, meituan bicycle and motorcycle users have reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 1187000 tons and air pollutants by 7777.4 tons (including carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, fine particles, etc.), It is equivalent to reducing the carbon dioxide and pollutant emissions of 270000 private cars driving for one year.

It is reported that “Yao basket” not only represents Yao fund and basketball court, but also the homonym of the cradle. Since its launch in 2008, Yao fund has been committed to supporting students and promoting education to help teenagers in poor areas develop in an all-round way in education, sports, nutrition, psychology and other aspects; At the beginning of its design, meituan bicycle follows the concept of full life cycle, and 100% of waste bicycles are recycled. Its shared bicycle to stadium project itself is practicing the environmental protection concept of “from cradle to cradle”. The two sides will bring the sustainable development concept of “sharing bicycles into stadiums” and the concept of “sports people” of Yao foundation to rural teenagers through the “Yao basketball plan” to help them grow healthily.
