According to the data of the world’s top ten semiconductor buyers in 2021 released by Gartner, the global semiconductor expenditure in 2021 was US $583.477 billion, which still maintained a year-on-year growth rate of 25% under the influence of supply chain core shortage and epidemic, mainly due to the rise of chip unit price. Gartner said that the average unit price of global chips increased by 15% year-on-year in 2021. The top ten semiconductor buyers spent US $345.782 billion, accounting for 42.1% of global semiconductor spending.
Apple semiconductor spending led the way, reaching US $68.269 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26%. The semiconductor expenditure of Better Life Commercial Chain Share Co.Ltd(002251) affiliated to oppo and vivo increased by 64% year-on-year in 2021, and the expenditure of Xiaomi increased by 68% year-on-year in 2021. Oppo, vivo and Xiaomi are far ahead in the growth of semiconductor expenditure, mainly due to the strong demand for chips caused by these three brands seizing Huawei’s overseas market share in 2021, especially in the fourth quarter. Affected by the decline of overseas market share, Huawei’s semiconductor expenditure has fallen from the third place in 2020 to the seventh place in 2021.
