Meta once again threatened the EU: if it could not continue to transmit data, it would withdraw services such as Facebook from Europe

Meta platforms Inc. (formerly Facebook) once again threatened to withdraw Facebook and instagram from Europe if it could not continue to transmit user data back to the United States. At present, regulators are negotiating to replace a repealed privacy agreement. EU regulators and the United States have been negotiating for months to replace a cross Atlantic China Welding Consumables Inc(600558) data transmission agreement. Thousands of companies relied on the agreement, but the European Court of justice opposed it in 2020 because of concerns about the insecurity of citizen data after it was transferred to the United States.
