“At 15:10 on Xigong line 01, the conductor was covered with 0 mm ice and the iron tower was covered with 20 mm ice.” On February 4, Li Haihong, the operation and maintenance worker of the transmission maintenance company of the State Grid Huaihua power supply company, and his colleague Liu Changwu, wearing a thick cotton coat, observed and reported the ice condition against the cold wind on Xihuang mountain in the west of Hunan Province.
Compared with a few days ago, the icing condition of xihuangshan power line has improved. The two o & M maintenance workers who have been stationed in the mountain for more than 10 days are a little relieved. During the Spring Festival, these “electricity protectors” stick to their posts in the ice and snow and guard the warm lights of the reunion of thousands of families.
Since the end of January, there has been rain, snow and freezing weather in many places in Hunan. The anti freezing and ice melting of power grid and power supply guarantee during the Spring Festival are facing great challenges. Since February 2, the cold air continues to affect Hunan Southwest Power Grid and Southeast power grid, with the maximum icing thickness exceeding 30mm.
The 110kV Xigong line, located in Xihuang mountain, is the earliest iced line in Hunan Province every year. Li Haihong and Liu Changwu carry out ice monitoring every two hours. The snow and fallen branches make it extremely difficult to go to the ice monitoring point. In bad weather, they can only go to the temporary lounge near the iron tower to take shelter from the wind and snow, make a fire in the small house to keep warm and eat instant noodles to satisfy their hunger.
Huping mountain in Shimen County, known as the “roof of Hunan”, once had a snow depth of more than 20 cm. Affected by continuous rain, snow and freezing weather, the minimum temperature at the top of the mountain reached minus 5 degrees Celsius.
On the first day of the new year, three members of the Communist Party member service team of State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. entered the working mode early in the morning and inspected the Beishan branch line of Hupingshan 10kV nifeng line. The road is difficult to walk. The team members step out of the line patrol channel with their feet in the snow. Where it is not easy for people to reach, they collect tower and line information with the help of UAV.
In Hupingshan area, there are about 15000 power users. Kejun farm in Beishan village, Shimen County has built an ecological pig farm at an altitude of 1400 meters. Electric heating is particularly important for pig breeding in winter. When they came to the Kejun farm, the patrol team members said, “just tell us if you have any electricity needs.” Zhang Kejun, the head of the farm, brought hot tea and said, “we are very relieved that the power supply is stable in the past few days of the Chinese New Year.”
The iceberg’s “electricity protector” has won the peace of mind of thousands of families. As of February 4, Hunan Electric Power Department has dispatched more than 1800 emergency repair teams during this cold wave, completed 49 times of ice melting and carried out more than 200 times of manual deicing of distribution lines.
