Young people in Luzhou leave Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou: they don't love big factories, love wineries, give up high salaries and go back to their hometown

While continuing to consolidate the title of "wine city", Luzhou has also attracted many young people studying abroad to give up "wandering" and return to their hometown.

Editor's note: bid farewell to the night of the city and go to the deep clouds of your hometown. Trapped by the epidemic for two years, the post-90s crossed mountains and seas and went home for reunion. In their hometown, they are more like foreigners who stay for a short time. In their perspective, they see the well-being of people, social changes and the feelings of family and country. On the occasion of the Spring Festival of the year of the tiger in renyin, times finance launched a series of reports on my hometown and my foreign land, which is the sixth.

"People under the city go to the city on the water, and the red part of the restaurant is bright. I love Luzhou with a cup, and give customers orange with cold fragrance."

When Zhang Wentao, a poet in the Qing Dynasty, left Luzhou by boat, he wrote this song Luzhou (three songs), which reveals the feelings of Luzhou people for wine between the lines.

How much do Luzhou people love wine? Luzhou native high wing Xin said that in summer, Luzhou can feel the "spirit of wine". "Summer is the season of wine making. When entering the Luzhou toll station, you can smell the aroma of Baijiu in the air, and almost every household will bake wine (a way of wine making)."

Gao Yongxin lives in Qifeng Town, Luxian County, Luzhou. Every year, he sorghum is used to make Baijiu in his family. "This year (2021), our family baked 150 Jin of sorghum wine. These are all we drink at ordinary times. We will buy wine at festivals. Luzhou Laojiao Co.Ltd(000568) and Langjiu local wine are our choices."

Luzhou is famous for its wine city, known as "China's wine city, intoxicating Luzhou". There are many famous wine brands here, such as Luzhou Laojiao Co.Ltd(000568) , Langjiu, Shenjiu, Yuchan, Xiantan, Sanxi and so on. According to the data, the total GDP of Luzhou in 2021 was 240.61 billion yuan, an increase of 8.5% over the previous year. Among them, the output value of liquor manufacturing industry increased by 11.1%, and the number of Luzhou liquor enterprises reached 122.

In recent years, the scale and number of Luzhou liquor enterprises have gradually increased. While continuing to consolidate the title of "wine city", it has also attracted many young people studying abroad to give up "wandering" and return to Luzhou.

wine fragrance penetrating into life

"We drink like soup here. Girls and boys are forthright." This is the city propaganda song of Luzhou, the wine city. For many outsiders, Luzhou is such a city that "if you don't drink, you won't have friends".

Luzhou is located in the southeast corner of Sichuan, and is bordered by Chongqing, Guizhou and Yunnan. There are Yongning River and Chishui River, and the junction of Tuojiang and Changjiang River. The combination of abundant natural resources such as water resources, hilly landforms and subtropical monsoon climate makes it very suitable for wine making, especially for Luzhou flavor baijiu.

According to Luzhou local chronicles, Luzhou's brewing history can be traced back to the Qin and Han Dynasties. At that time, the brewing industry in southern Sichuan was gradually bred. By the Tang and Song Dynasties, Luzhou brewing had become a common practice. Since then, the technology has gradually matured and formed characteristics.

To meet the needs of more consumers, most of the liquor products produced by Luzhou Laojiao Co.Ltd(000568) are relatively priced, and the price of products is higher than that of the 1573 series of national cellars and the Chinese Zodiac wine series. Many Baijiu Baijiu liquor priced at hundreds of yuan per 500 milliliters of single bottle.

Unlike other cities with the same energy level, Luzhou, which has just been upgraded to a third tier city in 2021, does not mainly rely on land development to increase local fiscal revenue. A wine industry practitioner told times finance that Luzhou has many well-known Baijiu brands as a liquor city, and has made important contributions to local employment, supporting facilities for enterprises, and urban profits and taxes.

The development of the Baijiu industry has also attracted the young people who are working hard to get back to the land.

Yang Lei is a native of Luzhou. After finishing his university in Chengdu, he has worked in first tier cities such as Guangzhou and Beijing, but finally the aroma of wine in his hometown attracted him to return to his hometown and work hard again. "I'm now working as a brand in a local wine company. Although the salary is not high compared with that in big cities, the cost of living here is low, and it's close to home. It's good to take care of each other. I can really feel the improvement of happiness."

Data show that in the first half of 2021, the Luzhou Baijiu industry talent capital index, technical transformation funds and technical personnel numbers were on the rise, of which the rate of technological transformation funds grew relatively high, the first half of 2021 rose 35.98%, and the cumulative growth of 351.35% since 2016 is the main factor to drive the rapid rise of talent capital index.

"About 60% of the employees of the group headquarters come from Sichuan and surrounding cities. The development of the liquor industry has especially improved the local employment rate." A group close to Luzhou Laojiao Co.Ltd(000568) said that the liquor industry is a manufacturing industry and requires a large number of skilled personnel and workers. "Luzhou city level is not large. Many local children may grow more willing to go abroad in the past. But now the Baijiu industry has grown and expanded, so that many young people who did not want to come back before they took the initiative to return to Luzhou."

young people return to Luzhou

Once Luzhou only had Baijiu, because of the inconvenience of transportation, many young people wanted to go out. Nowadays, Luzhou is not only Baijiu, but also the increasingly perfect transportation network. With city matching and economic upgrading, more and more young people choose to return to Luzhou.

In 2017, Wang Jia, who graduated from University, gave up the opportunity to stay in Nanjing for development and resolutely chose to return to his hometown Luzhou. After returning to Luzhou, Wang Jia successfully entered Langjiu shares through layers of screening. 2021 is the fourth year of Wang Jia's work in Langjiu Co., Ltd. in this year, she completed an important thing in her life.

In November, she married a colleague who worked with Langjiu. "I'm very grateful to myself for choosing to go back to Luzhou for development, otherwise I might still work alone now." Wang Jia said that when she graduated from University, many students chose to stay in Nanjing, but she gave up the opportunity to stay in Nanjing considering that she was the only child in her family.

"Homesickness is one reason. Another reason that attracts me back is the development of my hometown." Wang Jia said, "before 2017, Luzhou has decided to build a high-speed railway station and expand the airport. Although the completion progress is not very fast, I believe that once these urban infrastructure facilities are completed, they will further promote urban development." In September 2018, Luzhou Yunlong airport was opened to traffic. In June 2021, Luzhou high speed railway station (Luzhou Station) was completed and put into operation. In addition, Luzhou has also added a number of high-speed lines and flight routes.

A series of changes have promoted the development of this small city. In May 2021, Luzhou was rated as a third tier city in the latest "complete list of cities in China", becoming a small and medium-sized city with "strategic significance, relatively developed or large economic aggregate".

Different from Wang Jia's reasons for returning to Lu, Zhang Qiang is tired of the fast-paced life in big cities and wants to return to his familiar hometown. Around 2018, Zhang Qiang, who was about to turn 30, suddenly came up with the idea of "going home". "It was on a weekend night after working overtime that I suddenly had the idea of going home." Zhang Qiang mentioned the past with an understatement.

Before returning to Luzhou, Zhang Qiang had been working on the Internet in Shenzhen. It is often said that "Shenzhen does not accept people aged 35". Although he is not at this age, Zhang Qiang has felt the alienation of the city from him. Zhang Qiang recalled that when the idea of going home appeared, he found that he didn't give up, but became excited. He submitted his resignation early in the morning and returned to Luzhou immediately after the handover of work.

"I'm very satisfied with my current life. I still do work related to the Internet. The difference is that I run a studio by myself. When I'm not busy, I will collect wind in the surrounding villages and towns. I've never imagined such a life in Shenzhen before." When it comes to the current life, the smile on Zhang Qiang's face inadvertently reveals that the pace of life in Luzhou is slow but not boring. Although he earns more in big cities, Luzhou's income is not as small as he thought.

This Spring Festival, Zhang Qiang prepared the new year's products early. At the family banquet on New Year's Eve, what is indispensable is the strong aroma of wine. "Since it is mellow and sweet, the spring breeze accompanies me in front of the bottle". The poems that have passed through thousands of years are still circulating. In the view of young people like him, this city has both the aroma of wine and a more poetic life.
