Case overview
The outline of the 14th five year plan for national economic and social development and the long-term goal for 2035 clearly put forward the need to “explore the construction of digital Twin Cities”. After going through the concept cultivation period from 2017 to 2018, the technical scheme framework period in 2019 and the application scenario pilot period in 2020, the digital twin city ushered in the exploration period of “integrated construction”, and all localities promoted the planning and construction of digital twin cities and the innovative practice of industrial application to varying degrees. The collection of excellent cases of digital Twin Cities (2021) is a digital twin technology application working committee of China Internet association and digital twin city ecosystem partner of China Academy of information and communication. Based on the current practical application of digital twin cities in China, while launching the white paper of digital Twin Cities (2021), Application case report of digital twin city formed by comprehensive research.
By analyzing the application scenarios of the implemented digital twin cities outside China, the report divides all cases into Park (New Area) comprehensive management, one network unified management, safety emergency, transportation and logistics, sports and tourism, energy and other fields according to the project coverage and industry application.
From the application cases collected this time, it mainly presents three characteristics: first, the current construction of digital twin cities mostly focuses on the small-scale application scenarios of parks or new areas, and Tianjin Binhai New Area, Sanya yazhouwan science and technology city and other areas take the lead in making breakthroughs, significantly improving the intelligent level of governance services; Second, the application scenarios of digital twin technology have been continuously expanded. The application results of digital twin technology in flood control and waterlogging, dynamic simulation and deduction of urban level emission reduction, urban renewal and other fields have been achieved. Guangzhou Baiyun Lake Avenue, Hangzhou Fuyang district and other urban scenes have been accurately restored to realize the simulation simulation of transformation schemes; Third, the low code development mode is favored, and digital twin scenes that are easy to copy and can be popularized, such as digital twin exhibitions, digital twin scenic spots and digital twin venues, are gradually increasing. In the future, with the wide implementation of policies and concepts such as “modernization of national governance system and governance capacity”, “unified management of one network”, “digital reform”, “life cycle management”, “carbon peak and carbon neutralization”, the high value of digital twin cities will be fully released.
Generally speaking, the current digital twin city is still in its infancy, and the road of bottom-up application construction is extremely tortuous. The technical standards, application scenarios and supporting mechanisms all need a long-term improvement process. There is still much room for exploration in the investment mode, operation mechanism and commercial mode of digital twin projects. However, with the government and industry attaching great importance to digital twin technology and application and the accelerated evolution of information technology, it is believed that digital twin cities will step to a new level every year, and the innovation practice will be more and more wonderful. The case compilation will witness the process of digital twin cities honing their exploration.
